Mandalay Bay Shark Reef Aquarium

           

as Vegas has so much to offer its’ visitors. Children and adults alike will enjoy the various animal attractions existing in Las Vegas. Adults, particularly, will be shocked at how many animal attractions have low to no cost at all. With so many choices, one of the most exquisite and unique animal attraction is the Mandalay Bay Shark Reef Aquarium, located inside of the Mandalay Bay hotel-casino. At a fee of only $16.95 for adults and $10.95 for children ages 5-12, this is not only a very affordable attraction but it remains to be an absolute unrivaled attraction for the entire family to enjoy. The reef and aquarium house more than 1,200 distinct species of sharks and fish, along with reptiles and eels and other invertebrate. The newest member of the aquarium is an eight (8) foot long komodo dragon. The Aquarium and reef contain nearly two (2) million gallons of water and provides hours of pleasing entertainment and enjoyment.

                                                                                                     Atlantis Aquarium at Caesars Palace

           Another popular aquarium attraction is the 50,000 gallon saltwater Atlantis Aquarium located at the forum shops of Caesars’’ palace. Visitors can witness a live dive feed twice daily at 1:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. Dive feeding shows are free. More than 100 species of fish are contained inside the Atlantis Aquarium, including sharks and rays.

                                The Silverton Casino and Lodge

 

     The Silverton Casino and Lounge presents another exquisite aquarium of 117,000 gallons of water and more than 4,000 fish, sharks, rays and even mermaids performing free every thirty (30) minutes. Live feedings occur three times each day at 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. The large cylindrical shaped aquarium allows for a perfect view of the fish as they pass by unsuspectingly. Women clothed in bright and brilliant mermaid costumes perform Thursday through Sunday alongside the sharks and rays. The Aquarium at the Silverton hotel presents free daytime and nighttime shows with no reservations required.

            Mirage Hotel and casino: The Siegfried and Roy Dolphin Encounter and Secret Garden

One of the more globally-known animal attractions in Las Vegas is The Siegfried and Roy Dolphin Encounter and Secret Garden at the Mirage Hotel and casino. The 2.5 million gallon dolphin habitat houses 4 connecting pools, a coral reef and sandy bottom to present the dolphins with their natural habitat. The Secret Garden provides a natural habitat to a variety of wildcats, from the infamous white tigers known to be used in the Siegfried and Roy magic shows, to endangered white lions. The Dolphin encounter and the Secret Garden were both developed primarily as a tool for research and education, but also to provide homes for many endangered species such as the white tiger.

                                   MGM Grand lion habitat

The MGM Grand Hotel features adult lions in their MGM Grand lion habitat. The MGM Grand lion habitat Opens from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and lion feeding times are 11:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.each day. These lions, 20 females and 11 adult males (rotated throughout the day) are hand fed by their trainers and lucky visitors will get the chance to witness the feedings or other performances and presentations.

                      The Flamingo Hotel and Casino: Flamingo Hilton Wildlife Habitat

Visitors of Las Vegas can experience The Flamingo Hotel and Casino (home to the Flamingo Hilton Wildlife Habitat, which is situated on a fifteen (15) acre park directly behind the Flamingo Hotel and Casino.)The Flamingo Hilton Wildlife Habitat has exotic fish and birds are housed along with African Penguins and Chilean Flamingos’ .Admission into the Flamingo wildlife habitat is free for everyone, which makes it easily acceptable for any vacation budget.

               The Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park

The Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park offers am alternative to the many casino and hotel animal exhibits. Being the only zoo in Las Vegas, the Las Vegas zoo (also known as The Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park) presents its visitors with a substantial assortment of endangered wild cats, various exotic birds, apes, chimpanzees and various reptiles or other animals livening in the ‘wild’ and natural setting of the zoo.

                                                                                Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary

Home to three (3) large birds that cannot fly, the Ostrich, Emu, and a Rhea, The Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary also is home to some of the smallest birds found on Earth. The Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary is a global home to various birds and is maintained completely by it’s’ supporters and visitors. Australia has presented some magnificent Parakeets, Cockatoos and Cockatiels, to The Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary. Additionally; Africa has given a Turacao, the Lovebirds, and a variety of Parrots. The Macaws and Amazons represent birds from Central and South America along with a Toucan and an assortment of Parrots. Various types of migrating birds come to The Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary on their own and return year after year to make their homes again. In addition to the birds The Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary provides homes for quite a few desert tortoises, water turtles, iguanas from Central America, along with rescued  goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, swans, llamas, donkeys, and miniature horses.  The Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary is dedicated to the protection of endangered species.

 Henderson Bird Preserve

The Henderson Bird Preserve

Throughout the winter and early spring visitors can see many species of duck and other birds at The Henderson Bird Preserve.
During the winter, geese in migration from Canada provide visitors with an excellent viewing experience of their migration ‘pit-stop.’ Various other birds are housed in the Henderson Bird Preserve, as well as some turtles, also.
FFor the complete bird watching experience, the preserve offers a loan of binoculars for guests that do not have any to bring along with them.
